Ranking rules

How the board is ranked, how votes count and what's not allowed.

How ranking works

Every launch on VoteWeek is ranked by its score, which is the sum of the weights of all votes it received. If two launches have the same score, the one with more raw votes wins. If that is also equal, the launch that was reserved earlier wins. The final ranking locks when the week closes on Monday at 00:00 UTC. After that, nothing can change it.

Voting

  • You need an account to vote.
  • You must open the product's website before you can vote for it.
  • You get one vote per launch. You can withdraw it at any time during the week.
  • You cannot vote for your own product.
  • You can cast at most 20 votes per minute. We also apply rate limits per network, so many accounts behind one connection will be slowed down.

Not every vote counts the same. The weight depends on the age of your account at the moment you vote:

  • Account created during the launch week: weight 0
  • Account younger than 7 days: weight 0.5
  • Account 7 days old or older: weight 1

This keeps fresh throwaway accounts from steering the board.

Hidden counts

During the first 24 hours of each week, vote counts are hidden and the order of the launches is shuffled. Everyone gets a fair first day, and early momentum does not decide the week.

Awards

The top 3 launches of every week and every month receive an award. Monthly awards compare the weekly scores of all weeks that start in that month. A launch needs at least 1 vote to be eligible.

Launch weeks

A launch week runs from Monday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59 UTC. Each week has 25 free spots and 10 premium spots. You can book up to 8 weeks ahead.

Before you can list your own product, you must vote for at least one live product. We want makers to be part of the community, not only visitors.

You can relaunch a product 4 weeks after the end of its last launch week. A relaunch competes as a "relaunch" so that it is clear to everyone what they are looking at.

Free and Premium

Free: a standard card and a nofollow link. During your launch week the link becomes do-follow if you vote for 3 other products on the board.

Premium: a one-time payment of $15, a highlighted card, and a do-follow link after a quick check of your website. If the check fails, the link stays nofollow and you get a full refund.

Paying never changes your rank. Free and premium launches are ranked by exactly the same rules.

Four languages

Every listing is published in English, German, Spanish and Turkish. An AI drafts the translations from your text, and you can edit each language before and after you publish.

What is not allowed

  • Spam or listings that exist only to get a backlink
  • Scams, malware and phishing
  • Adult content
  • Harassment and hate
  • Illegal goods and services
  • Gambling
  • Products you do not own or do not work on
  • Broken or unreachable websites
  • More than one page per domain

Products are checked before they go public. Most are approved automatically within a minute. If something is unclear, a person reviews it. If your listing is rejected, you will see the reason in your dashboard.

Reporting

Every page has a Report link. Please use it when you see something that breaks these rules. Abuse leads to removal of the listing and, in serious cases, a ban of the account.
